CAFÉ MEZZA & GRILLE , introduces a new concept of dining to the Houston restaurant connoisseur. Mezza, meaning “appetizer” in Arabic, is an American cuisine with a Mediterranean flair that pushes the edge in flavors, innovations, and style.
Having operated a major Houston restaurant, owner and Chef Mike Tibi opens his first sole venture combining the traditional American Bistro design with elements of his own native Syria. What came to fruition is a casual café and grille enriched with delectable sandwiches, pastas and salads interspersed with flavorful Mediterranean grilles. “My menu has something for everyone; hearty pastas, traditional American sandwiches, fresh homemade soups and salads. While at the same time we have marinated grilled kabobs, steaks, and “mezzas” or assorted Mediterranean appetizers such as
hummus and baba ganooch,” says Mike. “the food is healthy while being delicious and filling. If the body of the restaurant is American it is Mediterranean by heart and soul.”

The food at Café Mezza & Grille is nothing short of perfection—in its flavor, preparation, presentation and personality. Creative use of herbs and spices lend a distinguished flavor to the grilled steaks and kabobs. There is an unmistakable touch of Mediterranean, especially where the distinct aromas of saffron, parsley and other regional spices come through. There too is a touch of California with a stunning array of freshly prepared grilled vegetables, sun-dried tomatoes and expertly prepared chicken and seafood. Homemade dressings and sauces tantalize the taste buds on heaping portions of fresh pasta and salads. The dishes are so rich and savory it’s easy to forget you are eating healthy (which will allow you to splurge for one of their heavenly desserts).
Café Mezza & Grille isn’t just known for the food though. To many, Café Mezza & Grille is the kind of restaurant (to borrow a line from a popular television show) “where everybody knows your name.” It’s a familiar place to crawl into a booth and find a little soothing familiarity. It’s not uncommon to find Mike himself taking your order or cooking your food.
The Tibi “something for everyone” philosophy doesn’t stop in the folds of the menu. Café Mezza & Grille is a split personality of atmospheres that can run from a romantic table for two in a cozy booth off to the side to a table outside on a stunning patio with views of the bustle and excitement of the busy city street out front.
